About us
From January 19 to 25, 2026, the first International Cello Academy will take place at the picturesque Music Academy of Colditz Castle. This outstanding event brings together exceptional cello talents from all over the world and offers them a first-class, professional, and inspiring learning platform. As a unique and top-class masterclass, the academy not only values technical skills but also cultural exchange and the passing on of artistic values.
Under the artistic direction of the internationally renowned professor Peter Bruns, professors Jens Peter Maintz and Wen Ma will give intensive individual and chamber music lessons. An experienced and professional accompaniment team will support all lessons to ensure optimal musical accompaniment and the highest quality. The lessons not only cover technical details of playing but also place great emphasis on musical expression and artistic creativity to significantly promote and develop the participants on their musical journey.
The academy is generously supported by the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony and organized in close cooperation with the Landesmusikakademie Sachsen. It creates a unique platform for artistic exchange and the promotion of musical excellence. This event is not only an outstanding learning opportunity but also a place of intercultural encounter that brings together young musicians from different countries and cultures, thus making a valuable contribution to international music education.
